Manchester might have a reputation for being the UK’s Rainy City, but it doesn’t mean that summer should be cancelled. Quite the opposite, actually. Manchester’s increased popularity over the last 10 years has seen it become home to people from all over the world, and the summer time is when things really get interesting.

The summer months provide an opportunity to enjoy the great city for all it has to offer, from street food events to festivals and more. Just like our The Best Activities in London This Summer, we’ve put together a list of the most exciting events happening during Manchester’s summer months.

Manchester Comic Con

Soak up some serious nostalgia at Manchester Comic Con’s two-day event, which is themed around popular films and programmes from the 1980s and 1990s. Jerry Springer - The Opera

Sticking with 90s nostalgia, Jerry Springer - The Opera takes place at the Hope Mill Theatre throughout the month of August. Not for the faint-hearted, the show pays homage to the de facto talk show that was crass, had no shame and featured guests who would do anything to get on TV. The show was “airing your dirty laundry in public” before social media was a thing. Now you can relive it in opera form.

Find the Secret Roof Terrace

Honest Burgers, one the UK’s most popular burger joints, has teamed up with Runaway Brewery to open a roof terrace with plenty of delicious beef patties and beer. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy the sun than meeting up with friends and heading to a rooftop for beer and burgers. Enjoy sweeping views of Manchester while sampling mouth-watering patties.

Cocktail Slushies @ Flight Club

Everyone knows that cocktails are the highlight of summer, which is why you should head down to Fight Club and try one of their cocktail slushies. As one of the city’s most popular spots, Fight Club has a varied selection in the form of cocktails like rum coconut and banana liqueur crunch.
