Flowers are one of the best ways to create a mood. The luxury of being able to have flowers in your home, whether it’s huge bunches in bright colours or just a single stem in a milk bottle, they have a certain charm that’s universal.

Luckily, these days it’s quite easy to find beautiful flowers, even in a concrete jungle! Orchids and other blooms from far off lands sit happily next to English roses and Magnolias in various arrangements in florist shops across the city.

So because it’s almost Valentines Day (and just because we like flowers) we’ve put together a list of some of the best flower shops in London for you to check out.

Scarlet and Violet

A beautiful flower shop that got a lot of attention when Kate Moss ordered her wedding flowers from here! Lovingly cared for by the owner Victoria Brotherson, the shop displays swathes of flowers arranged in glass bottles, old jugs and buckets so that inside, it feels a little bit like walking into a Secret English garden.

Specialising in exotic blooms, Orchidya houses a smorgasbord of (you guessed it) Orchids! There’s a huge choice and they’re all grown in the UK, which ensures the maximum freshness and longevity of the flowers. Order online or go in-store for the full experience and to order the rarest flowers that aren’t available online.

Flor Unikon

The team of “creative florists” at Flor Unikon are leaders in their field (no pun intended) and will expertly arrange your bouquet, popping it off to you for next day delivery as long as you order before 2pm! This is a great service if you’ve been shamefully last minute and you’re in serious need of a saving grace.

Flor Unikon also do event planning, perfect if you also need a bit of help with your special occasion. If you want to learn how to do your own flower arranging (wouldn’t we all?) they also do courses to show you how. Jack of all trades… and master too apparently.

Wildabout is for when you want a really high end touch, or just to get some chocolates with your petals (mmm chocolates). Check out their flagship store in Clerkenwell where their international team of florists cater for film premieres, award ceremonies and fashion shows. They also work with some of the world’s most famous brands to create collaborations like the one with the yummy Lindt chocolates for this Valentines. One for me please!

Kensington Flowers

A family business, the owners of this independent flower shop in Kensington put a lot of heart and effort into bringing pleasure to people through flowers. Simple presentations that let the stunning flowers and arrangements speak for themselves. Tied with natural seagrass twine or a hessian sash knot and wrapped in an elegant, clean white wrapper, their arrangements are modern and elegant.
