Houses & Flats to Rent in Southfields (SW18 & SW19)
Just five and a half miles south west of the City, Southfields is an often-overlooked residential neighbourhood, but is the perfect base for those looking to rent the Wimbledon lifestyle on a reasonable budget. Southfields has a strong community spirit and whilst the residents here are proud of the tennis prestige its neighbour brings (you’ll spot purple and green banners draped in windows and on lamp posts throughout the sporting season), it very much has its own feel and aesthetic. The area is full of community groups, neighbourhood apps and Facebook chatter. Southfields is a lovely London suburb to rent in: milkmen still deliver in glass bottles, neighbours regularly mow the grassy street verges, and people stop for a chat on the pavement.
Flats & Apartments to Rent in Southfields
Southfields’ few flats to rent come in the form of purpose-built Edwardian flats that look from the outside like the usual homes from that period, just with two front doors. These usually span a single floor and share a garden. There are flat-shares for rent in the area, but not many – the council put a stop to such conversions back in the 1980s.
Houses to Rent in Southfields
The streets of Southfields are lined with three, four and five bedroom Victorian and Edwardian houses to rent, semi-detached and terraced, but there are also some Art Deco and mock-Tudor fronted detached houses about, too. Very popular with families, most houses have gardens and a good group of chatty neighbours to get to know!
