An Open Letter to Our Customers: Reflecting on 2019

We are heading towards the end of another exciting year, and 2019 has been one of the busiest and most enjoyable yet. As it has become a tradition to share my thoughts on the year gone by, I think it’s important to reflect on everything the team here at Movebubble and our customers have achieved in 2019!

As we continue on our mission to create the world’s best renting experience, let’s look at the steps Movebubble has taken this year, as well as the areas we’re looking to be even better in for 2020. 

Things we said we would do better 🤗 

Account management

I am pleased to say we invested in this area, with more Account Managers joining the team. But with all the new partners coming on board, we can still do more to improve. Amazing customer experience is something I’m very passionate about, and to help us on our way, we also know that more work needs to be done to automate manual processes, and free up more time to connect regularly with our partners.

We want to provide our renters and partners with the greatest possible experience, so that using Movebubble is fun and rewarding for everyone. That’s why we’re always trying to be better than we were before.

2020 is our chance to be even more proactive in the account management area and utilise the latest software to provide a seamless experience for our renters and partners. I think the result will be an improved all-round service when using Movebubble. 

Brand awareness

Movebubble is now at over 30% unprompted brand awareness across London, and we are delighted at how it has played a role in cementing us as a household name that’s synonymous with renting. We’ll carry on improving the renting experience for our fantastic renters and partners. Campaigns allow us to get the word out and get more great renters using Movebubble.


The Movebubble buses were a big hit, popping up across the capital and helping to raise awareness for renters looking for a smarter way to rent. 

You could even spot one of them on the BBC! 😅

Next year, we will continue to be bold with our advertising, marketing Movebubble in London while also expanding our campaigns in Manchester. We plan to ramp things up a notch to make the lives of renters significantly easier.


We have started partnering with many of the major CRM providers to enable more seamless integrations for our partners and Build-to-Rent operators. This has been one of the main requests this year as we start to scale and send more and more property enquiries.

The major benefits of this will be seen in early 2020, but integrations are an ongoing project for us, ensuring we fit seamlessly into our partner’s workflow.

More users than ever

Our renter audience continues to grow, with more than half a million renters now using the app. It took us three years to reach a quarter-of-a-million renters (they say good things come to those who wait), but the first six months of 2019 saw us hit half a million renters - and we couldn’t be more pleased! 

Movebubble wouldn’t be possible without your support, and I’m super pleased to see that it’s changing the renting experience for the better.

We aim to continue the growth in 2020, helping even more renters discover Movebubble, and a better way to rent. 

Partner growth

We’re continuing to enhance the relationship between renters and letting agents, offering a more transparent way to communicate that is also hassle-free.

It looks like it’s working, as we saw a 130% growth in letting agents embracing new technology solutions, and using Movebubble to find high-quality renters for their landlords. The ability for agents and renters to have instant chats in our app suits everyone, and is making communication much smoother and faster.

It’s hard to argue against 2019 being the year of Build-to-Rent. Community-driven homes, designed specifically for renting, are providing renters with greater choice when it comes to finding a new home.

As an early Build-to-Rent adopter, I’m thrilled to announce that we have increased the number of developments on Movebubble by a whopping 390%. It means renters have even more choices for finding homes that have been designed with their needs in mind. 

Making moves in Manchester

2019 was also our first new city launch outside of London. In April we opened for business in Manchester, a city that has seen a huge spike in purpose-built homes for renters.

So far, we’ve partnered with several Build-to-Rent companies and letting agents to offer community-driven rental homes in the heart of Manchester. I’m really pleased that we can offer our Manchester renters the same experience that our renters are getting in London. 

New team members

We are very excited to welcome Terry Fisher (Marketing Director), Chris Browne (Sales Director) and Hiten Bhojani (Finance Director) to Movebubble.

Terry has over 10 years’ experience in marketing, and we’re delighted to have him on board as the Marketing Director. He’s already an integral part of the team and will help drive our brand awareness forward.

  • Terry has extensive experience with premium brands, working in different sectors such as food, gaming and finance. 
  • At Deliveroo, the online food delivery company, Terry played a vital part in their year-on-year 600% growth.
  • He has also run his own consultancy,  worked as head of SEO at William Hill and was chief marketing officer at Investoo.

Chris recently joined as the Sales Director. It’s incredible to have him on board as he’s very well known in the industry. We believe his experience will be an amazing addition to Movebubble’s growth in 2020. 

  • Chris has 32 years of property experience through an estate agency, new homes and property portals
  • He has worked as a Senior Sales Manager and director level for Bewley Homes, Kings Oak and Barratt, before moving into the property portal world with Zoopla as Head of New Homes.

Hiten joins Movebubble as a Financial Director at a time when we’re seeing unprecedented growth. With more than 12 years experience, Hiten has already worked with mega brands like Groupon, and I look forward to him transferring his knowledge over to Movebubble. 

  • Hiten was the UK Finance Director at Groupon for more than four years, where he advised on various aspects of the business. 
  • He was also Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at Momondo Group, and was the FP&A lead on $200m majority sale to US Private Equity firm. 
  • Other roles include working in finance at World Duty Free Group and Hertz Rental. 

Investment highlights

Thanks to investment from Lonestar and our new backers Blackfinch, we now have more resources available for growth. This means we can continue to invest in innovation and development of the product, and continue on our mission to create the world’s best renting experience.

Things we need to improve on 🤔

Further differentiated value through our product

We invested a lot of time rebuilding our technology platform in 2019 which will be launching in early 2020. This allows us to implement new features much faster, drastically increase our audience size, and provide a sleeker product that our customers will love.

2020 will see even more exciting features, helping renters throughout more of their journey and delivering more value to our partners.

One of those features will be video viewings, here’s a sneak peak of what it  might look like. 😉

Growing the brand

Our Manchester launch proved successful but there's still more to be done! Manchester is a key area for us and it's essential we continue making renting fun and easy for our renters across the UK.

2020 will see more focus on growing Movebubble in London and Manchester. I’m also super pleased to say that Movebubble will expand into other UK cities in 2020. Watch this space to find out where Movebubble will be popping up next!

Even better customer service

As the heart and soul of Movebubble, we must continue to provide our partners and renters with the best service possible. The hire of Chris Browne is part of the process of enhancing how we interact with our partners, as is the commitment to bringing in more Account Managers to manage our growing customer base. 

But we won’t stop there. We know the importance of your expertise and plan on working closely with you all in 2020 so that we keep exceeding expectations.
