Hidden down Sandy’s Row in Shoreditch, La Tagliata could be easily missed if you didn’t know where it was, but make sure you don't! With its authentic traditional Italian recipes cooked with an obvious passion for food, it's one of the most stand out restaurants gastronomy wise.
Perfect for quiet lunchtime work meetings or a romantic dinner for two, the smart subtle interior reflects the sophisticated Italian menu which is refreshingly simple, with no distractions from the quality ingredients. The charcuterie is a mouthwatering selection of the finest cured meats. With such delicate flavours picking a drink to compliment was essential. Fortunately they've even thought of this and brought in a team of experts to devise an exciting and complementary wine list.
La Tagliata Di Manzo is the restaurants signature dish, and not surprisingly one of the most popular. The finest beef sirloin cooked and sliced, on a bed of rocket, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan shaves, served with a balsamic glaze.
With a recipe handed down from the owners Italian grandmother, Il Pollo Ripeno is another popular dish. Breaded chicken breast stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese and pancetta, on a bed of rocket, cherry tomatoes, radicchio, served with a balsamic glaze.
Don’t miss the unusual Tagliatella Al Limone pasta. It’s subtly lemon flavoured strips make this one of the best things on the menu (for me at least!)
Main course done, it was time to move onto the dessert. I went for the Panna Cotta and it was probably the best dessert I’ve ever tasted!
Without doubt, La Tagliata one of Shoreditch's best kept secrets. Get over there quick, before the secret gets out!
