Brilliant Battersea has managed to fly under the radar for years despite being just across the river from chic Chelsea, but with the opening of the Northern Line in 2020 and the new US Embassy arriving soon, there's never been a better time to settle here.

Along with pretty parks and great shops, Battersea boasts a selection of excellent restaurants with a range of cuisines on offer and plenty of Parisian-style brasseries as a result of the local francophone community. The clue is in the name at this relaxed, chic British brasserie on the Ransomes Dock. All the dishes are seasonal and made from locally sourced ingredients, with the intention of showcasing amazing British food. The menu is packed full of mouth-watering options such as sweet potato gnocchi, smoked mackerel pate and pigs head croquettes, while the desserts are certainly worth saving room for.

Gazette Brasserie

Belleville meets Battersea at this charming French bistro featuring a rustic menu filled with foie gras, les moules marinières, terrines, charcuterie and plenty of cheese. The interior is classically Gallic with red brick walls and wooden tables, and on a sunny day the pretty outdoor terrace is hard to beat.

QuecumBar

We’ve already recommended Quecumbar as a great bar in Battersea, but we reckon their food menu deserves a proper mention too. This cool Parisian-style spot recalls the pre-war days of the Lost Generation with jazz, gypsy swing and oodles of food and drink. Come at dinner-time for a warming bowl of French onion soup and a juicy beef bourguignon, and we reckon you’ll end up staying all evening!
