London Rental Report: Updated June 2018

Latest Update: June 2018

Many renters have requested some insights about the average rental prices across the Capital's different areas, so we've put together this guide to give you a better idea of what the London's rental market looks like.

In this article, you'll find useful information about the most and least expensive areas to rent a property in London. We've checked out the average monthly prices for the most searched types of properties: studios, 1 bedroom and 2 bedromm flats. Read on to discover the latest figures

Main findings...

In May 2018, the average price for a studio flat in London was £1,032, showing a decrease of 3% compared to the same month last year. For 1-bed properties, Movebubble has recorded an average price of £1,343 in May, and the price of 2-bed flats averaged £1,788.

Mayfair shows the highest average prices for both 1 and 2 bed flats, with monthly rents reaching over £6,300.

If you're looking for a studio flat to rent on a budget, you should probably stay away from Tower Hill. In this area, a studio flat will cost you on average £2,943

The Movebubble Report analysed active 1 bedroom property listings added in September across all of London. It shows the most and least expensive areas and areas with the fastest growing rents. The London average was £1,530 last month.

 

London rental report ~ September 2017

The Most Expensive

–St James rents grew by nearly 34% to £3,845.10 this year, and continues to rank as the most expensive area to rent in London.

Mayfair followed suit as the second priciest place in city with rents at £3,511.70 for a 1 bed property.

–Aldwych held onto its strong position with a 13.62% increase in rents this year.

The Least Expensive

–Chislehurst was the most affordable place inside the M25 to rent a 1 bedroom property, priced at just £600 pcm.

–Harefield saw a drop in rents of around 32.67% which was the second largest decrease of the areas inside the M25.

–Crayford ranked as third least expensive, with rents at £783.30 for a 1 bedroom property.

Popular Areas

-Clapham was the 93rd most expensive area in London to rent, however it saw a 4.86% decrease from last year.

-Fulham was the 63rd most expensive area in London to rent, and saw a small decrease of 4.53% when compared to last year.
