6 Movies a Letting Agent Should Watch!

Are you sick of reading boring sales manuals on how to be a better sales person? Yeah, we were too. So we put together a list of personal recommendations from the team at Movebubble for the best movies to watch as a letting agent in London. Ok, so perhaps you shouldn't take some of these characters as your role model for life... but you can definitely pick up a tip or two, and be thoroughly entertained in the process 🍿

Glengarry Glen Ross

A fantastic film, set in an Estate Agent office in the US. It's about four real salespeople who sell unappealing land to people who don't really want it. Super gritty film with some brilliant dialogue! Personally, I love the screen about ABC (Always Be Closing) which has become a timeless classic scene! Brilliant cast with Alec Baldwin playing my favourite character.

Favourite quote: “A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Closing. Always be closing, always be closing.”

Boiler Room

I must have watched this film 100 times! All-star cast including some early acting from Vin Diesel and Ben Affleck. It about a guy that gets involved in a fake “Stock broking business” similar to “Wolf of Wall Street”, but much more interesting. Some great scenes on how to close deals!

Favourite quote: “And there is no such thing as a no sale call. A sale is made on every call you make. Either you sell the client some stock or he sells you a reason he can't. Either way a sale is made, the only question is who is gonna close? You or him? Now be relentless, that's it, I'm done.”

Jerry Maguire

Has to be one of the best Tom Cruise Films ever! The good old days before he was into scientology 🤓 He plays a sport agent that decided to go off and set up his own agency! He ends up with one client who is very funny, but a bit crazy! The film follows him on the ups and downs of him setting up on his own.

Favourite quote: “Show me the money!”

The Goods

Don Ready is many things, but he is definitely an extraordinary but slightly crazy salesman. When a car dealership in LA is on the brink of bankruptcy, he and his ragtag team dive in to save the day. But what Ready doesn't count on is falling in love and finding his soulmate. Super funny and entertaining!

Favourite quote: “Pain is weakness leaving the body."

 Wall Street

On Wall Street in the 1980s, Bud Fox is a young stockbroker full of ambition, doing whatever he can to make his way to the top of the corporate ladder. Admiring the power of the unsparing corporate raider Gordon Gekko, Fox entices Gekko into coaching him by providing illegal information.

Favourite quote: “The most valuable commodity I know of is information.”

Pursuit of Happiness

Will Smith earned an Academy Award nomination for his role as Chris Gardner, a fitfully employed salesman who finds himself and his five-year-old son homeless after a series of unlucky events. There is amazing part where he turns up to an interview with paint all over himself! Luckily he ends up getting an unpaid internship at a brokerage firm, and life turns out to be amazing! Truly heart-wrenching film but really inspiring! Makes those days when you get a lot of ups and downs feel like nothing.

Favourite quote: "You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it."

Stath Lets Flats - ok, we know this one isn't a movie, but still funny!

Follow Stath, the world's worst estate agent, through the ups, downs and pretty embarrasing situations he gets himself into. Stath works at the family letting agency, and truly is the most tragic agent about. This Channel 4 comedy is sure to make you giggle, and perhaps you recognise an agent you know who is just like Stath 😉

Favourite quote: "Oh blimey hell, there’s a man in the bathroom. I can see his willy! Only joking, it’s a lovely flat, there’s no willies.”
